I've been working in #ArtDirection
for many years and it does feature a lot of things, but my favorite
have always been EVENTS, CONFERENCES, TRADE FAIRS... SO here am I
specializing into it! Watch this video to know more & follow MM corporate on facebook & insta !
You've been wondering what happened since the last time I was here? Well... Fall happened! And with it the busy schedules, winter campaigns, shop windows... But it gives me nice things to share, like what we shot for JAUNE. Aviation and jet travel was the theme and we were lucky to shoot in two great locations: MEA training center & conference center, as well as Cedar Jet. Watch the full video for more:
You always ask what I do for a living; well, I create moods and stories for publications, events, fashion editorials and video shoots. Here's the latest one I directed for Kerkor Jewelry inspired by the Far East. Press play and enjoy!
It's not the first time I talk about it, but this concept is still successful years on: Havas have created for Monoprix a systematic packaging that is everything but boring! Watch the video for more and don't forget to read the labels next time you shop there ;-D
I wanted to name this post "Scarf Face" but Lea & Joe were going to kill me ;-DDDD So why do my friends call me Madame Foulard? Because it's an essential in my wardrobe... Scarves can be tied in 101 ways and change your outfit from top to bottom. Watch the video to discover scarves... seen by maya ;-D
It's that time of the year when we are almost always outdoors, in picnics, barbecues, parties... and the last thing we want is dishwashing! So what do we do? We use disposable plates and cups :-( I am just saying that instead of plastic that lasts thousand of years in our environment, simply use paper... One thing i forgot to mention in the vlog: you can also use wooden cutlery instead of plastic as well.
Brands featured: Rana Salam Disclaimer: All names and brands i feature in my vlog are my own favorites, when the post is sponsored, it will be mentioned.
One of the sexiest aspects of Beirut is how it varies so much from one neighborhood to the other, and despite our barbaric destruction of old heritage, you might still fall in love on a hidden street corner... Follow me with Naji Assi, Architect & Professor, to discover Badaro's little gems: If you liked the video, you can use this map, prepared by the Arab Center for Architecture, to go on your own little walk ;-)
When June hits, Aperitivo becomes the highlight of the day: finding the perfect spot to meet with friends around the best spritz & cocktails! To get the best mixology tips for my go-to drinks, I met with Souhad, Campari/Aperol Ambassador at The Malt Gallery. Watch the video for more:
Music has always been at the heart of my life since the very beginning: as a toddler dancing with my dad to the sound of his vinyls, as a teenager fascinated by indie rock & new wave, and then as an inspiration for photo shoots, slogans, captions... I truly believe Music has saved the planet from going totally mad...till now ;-) Let's celebrate it together with my review of the wonderful exhibition currently held at the Philharmonie de Paris. Watch for more!
One question I'm often asked: "Where did you get that necklace?" I really never go over budget with my accessories, but i simply love a piece that tells a story. Each time I find a piece that's bold, wherever that might be, even on a street stall, I buy it and wear it with a simple outfit so that it shines on its own... Watch the video to discover some of my favorites like Karma, Issorya, Elsa O and Riwaya...
As part of my collaboration with Kerkor Jewelry and Imad Elkhoury this year, i worked on two projects: The Spirit of Seasons launched at the Malt Gallery during Beirut Design Week, of which I will reveal to you a piece each month of the coming year...
And Rock On! Which was their annual Christmas celebration:
For this, inspired by Heavy Metal concerts and Rock festivals, we actually shot Elissar's hands many times with front and back lights; front like a music stage and back to shine on the jewelry pieces... And we layered them altogether as you can see.
The best part of all this was the active participation of every guest in the event, from the youngest to the oldest, and from the most traditional to the craziest one (me?) (!) So cheers to the Lebanese people, you surely know how to party!!!
Thrilled to share with you our latest work for JAUNE, the Lebanese Men's Style brand!
"Les Toits de Paris" campaign was done as a guerilla-shooting in Paris and would not have been possible without the flexibility of the small (but GREAT) team: Jonathan Caillat as main model & producer, Imad El Khoury as photographer & videographer, myself as art director & film director, backed up of course by the JAUNE style & production team represented by their manager Joe Daher who was so cool he did not even mind ironing the outfits ;-)
Hats off also to Daniel Baradie as well who always does wonders with our rushes...
I leave you with my favorite images from the lookbook:
If you like the clothes, they are available in all JAUNE shops!
I know I always shared sneak peeks of my work before they went public but this time, given the ultra confidentiality i could not. I waited for the shops to open and the look book to be sent! But now we can share it with the world:-)
As you know, Rectangle Jaune has been on the market for 28 years, strong with their high end quality DNA, they shifted to a smaller name, JAUNE, in order to reach more and go global. To embrace their new design motto "Less is more", we decided to remove the pocket label and use only the yellow threads on the second button as signature:
Fun, right? Also we brainstormed for weeks for the best concept to explain this uplifting and came up with these films, created by myself, directed by Ghassan Koteit and produced by The Filmhouse :
In a nutshell, we are saying that while we are proud of our heritage, "change is the only constant"! So we simplified our approach to be more minimalist and enhance our essential qualities, which is in the current Zeitgeist...
Above a picture from the TRENDS wardrobe: new structures and patterns, with closer cuts.
On the blue background, a picture from the ICONS classic wardrobe.
And this last one is from the ACTIVE palette, with bold colors and nautical themes.
To celebrate the new branding and to present the collections into their perfect setting, BLEU design renovated our flagship boutiques. The elegant mix of rough wood and dark steel with bright yellow convey an atmosphere of boldness & warmth, portraying perfectly the style codes of the modern gentleman.
As you see, rebranding a landmark is not an easy step and it involves every possible aspect; for instance the website Jaune.me developed by ActiveWeb follows the same "Less is More" spirit:
Which is also conveyed in the publication:
This barely sums up the works did in every field to boost this launch, but more reports and posts are coming very soon so stay tuned!

You've read the book, or at least seen the movie...
If I ever want to travel through the US, it is merely for a road trip on the Mystic Iconic Route 66, but only as Jack Kerouac described it. Maybe because this time is long gone, or was never real... maybe because it only exits in our imagination and in the poems of the Beat Generation.
Here's our Kerouac inspired shoot, on a route you all know, in a valley not so far from here...
Enjoy!
Thanks again to all the RJ team & to Imad El Khoury, this editorial was shot in difficult conditions.
This summer we went on a family road trip through the French Vignobles... From Bourgogne (Burgundy) and its "climats" to Bordeaux, St Emilion, Langoiran, Bergerac, Monbazillac... It was quite a trip! I even let the kids taste the different "terroirs"! Don't gasp, just a sip ;-)
But the highlight of our journey was definitely our magical visit to the Biac Vignobles! Thanks to our oenologist friend Diana, we were delighted to meet Youmna Asseily, who is the sparkling lady, with her charming husband, who gave back Biac all its glory, and much more...
Mrs Asseily was so kind to give us a full tour to show us the grapes, the new renovated "chai", the tasting room... And all these spaces have one thing in common: Passion!
You cannot be so much involved in an estate ~some grapes are picked grain per grain!!~ without reflecting your religious adoration on the wines... Biac is truly a "GRAND VIN" de Bordeaux...
About the wines:
Chateau Biac, my preference, a modern Bordeaux Wine that ages gracefully...
B de Biac: from the same plots, but ready to be enjoyed directly, a good companion for relaxed encounters...
For both these wines Mrs Asseily chose her family crest as label: Felix the Royal Cat.
Which brings us to Felix: The playful wine of the family, with Kufi type inspiration. Can be even chilled in summer...
And Secret: the sweet golden nectar Cadillac wine. This is the one collected grain per grain, on various days depending from each maturation. Truly the gold of the gods...
The tasting room has oriental accents, with pieces from Images d'Orient, Nathalie Fallaha, and other artists, and it is really the "bouquet final" after the crescendo of the visit..
To know more about Chateau Biac click here for their lovely website that truly depicts their magical spirit and history. And make sure to taste their wine: it is available in Lebanon.
Last but not least, a small "secret de Biac": the Asseilys have three guest houses that you can rent if you are a true wine lover. But schhhh.... keep it confidential.
I can't believe it's been three weeks we finished BIFEX, the yearly conference of LFA, Lebanese Franchise Association!
As usual, my job was to create this year's conference branding, all the animations that passed on the screen, as well as all the prints.
Concerning the closing Gala, the theme was the "Lebanese Pop & TV Culture" of the seventies.
Tonight I will be on #BalaToulSire - Future TV to talk about it, as Zaven is also very interested by this theme and is actually publishing a book about the subject!
Here are a few pictures; first the preparations of the giant TV screen:
The hundreds of TVs in the Deco...
The old soda bottles with carnations, the "in" flower at the time:
George Khabbaz paying a tribute to all the late stars...
Zaven & Rima Karaki with the 7up bottles ;-)
Chou batariytak? Vintage ads played by 8eme Art..
Yanasseeb dour w seeb... The real Lebanese Lottery Wheels!
After that, the awards started, and then we fired up the dance floor, in good LFA tradition...
Huge thanks to Mr Makdessi for the TL archives, IAA for the advertising archives, Rita Moussalem & her team who found solutions to produce all my ideas. Sultan Touma, Omar Youssef and all the Screen-Lighting-Audio-Video-Photo team, 8e Art for a wonderful performance, Bassam Abou Zeid, Rita & Jean Aoun, Joe Alam who made BIFEX a trending hashtag on social media this year...
We were about 50 people striving to make this event a success and it was even more. Thank you all!
